Here is my recipe for a homemade dry fire device - Cut a piece of 1/2" CPVC plastic water pipe (the kind that's almond color) 1.030" long. Tubing cutters work very well. Now take a spent 45ACP case (unsized) and insert it head first into the piece of pipe and press it in leaving about 3/16 to 1/4 in. of the case mouth protruding out of the pipe. Using tubing cutters squeezes the ends of the pipe in and makes this a tight fit. Now open the bolt of your rifle, insert this little gizmo with the case mouth first into the chamber until the pipe bottoms out against the breech face. Close the bolt against the pipe and you're ready to dry fire. To recock just pull the bolt back about 1/2 inch, let it drop and your ready to go again. This can be done with the rifle shouldered. It sure beats disturbing your shooting position to cycle the bolt and push the follower down every time. It also beats giving Fulton Armory $13.xx plus shipping and waiting on UPS. I guess I'm just an impatient tight [deleted]! You can also drill a hole through the pipe just behind the casehead and glue in a piece of dowel to aid in removal.
Well there it is, it aint pretty but it works.
